This weeks blog post is a look at the shift to subscription gaming 💳
With the recent launch of Call of Duty MW3 coming to Game Pass and the new Black Ops 6 launch confirmed to be on Game Pass from day 1, is this going to be a shift for other publishers in future?
I miss the days where you'd queue outside Game at midnight anticipating the new game you've been waiting for over a year. Whilst now, the build up is a simple download from your PC or console and that's it.
The shift towards subscription gaming seems to becoming more and more popular. It definitely is a positive shift in the industry for the consumer, but does the novelty then soon die off?
Don't get me wrong... I'm super excited for the release of Black Ops 6 and the other old Call of Duty titles coming to Game Pass which beats the £70 per game I would have been paying. It opens the game up for loads more casual players making it more accessible to for those that don't want to commit to the game or the price.
But, I do miss the feeling of buying that new game and getting on with your friends - the novelty of that has definitely died for me... Has it for you?
