Levelling Up Your Mind: Mental Health

With mental health week recently gone, it's given me time to reflect on my own journey with mental health and how I combatted poor mental health last year.

I wake up each and every day with a positive outlook on life and always thankful for being able to spend another day doing what I absolutely love which is live streaming and vibing with my community. But, there was a time in 2023 where this wasn’t the case.

I burnt out bad.

I was pushing myself so hard mentally and physically with content to grow my brand to the heights I knew it could reach, waking up at 6am often going to bed at midnight working on content, plans and more to grow my channel. Which ultimately led to me hitting a massive burnout and a depression phase for my first time ever in my life at the age of 31.

I guess you could say I’m lucky in that I’d only just experienced that now and hadn’t experienced it before then.  I’ve always been a massive work-a-holic or grinder you could say and I love what I do. But by pushing myself to the limit each and everyday I guess I’d had enough and completely withdrew from everything I loved. Even streaming I found a struggle which I’ve never experienced in the six years of streaming.

This is when I knew something was seriously up.

Luckily I had the support from my community, family, friends and girlfriend which helped get me through it. Not to mention my amazing team Fnatic who supported me through it all. I evaluated everything I was doing to make sure when I got back on my stride again this wouldn’t happen again and I’d create healthier habits which meant distributing my time better to fit everything in, like content, streaming, going on walks and the gym, seeing family and more.

Since last Summer I’ve never felt better. It took me to hit a real low to come out the other side and I’m back more ready than ever. I now stream part time as I lecture part time also but still manage to fit everything in and have a life at the same time.

We’ve recently added a mental health channel in my Discord to which has been helping members in the community and is great to see. If you’re reading this and this relates, just remember you’re not alone. You’ve got this.
